Scared

scaredThere are lots of different reasons why you may feel scared, afraid or frightened.  Generally these feelings are natural responses to being in danger, feeling threatened or because of something that has happened to you previously.

When you feel scared you might want to run away and hide, you might freeze and feel unable to move.  You may have butterflies in your stomach, your heart may be racing and you may find you are breathing quicker.  These are all natural reactions.

Some young people and families feel afraid or frightened when a person in their lives has been drinking heavily.  The person might act differently, they may shout, be aggressive or even violent.

If you feel unsafe or scared as a result of someone else’s behaviour then it is best to talk to somebody that you trust and get some help.

If you believe that you are at risk or in danger, go to a safe place, call the police or someone that you trust to help you.
